Dear Principals, Campus Ministers, and Teachers,
As you may be aware, the Church celebrates Vocations Awareness Week each year during the first full week in November. This week is intentionally celebrated around the same time as the we celebrate All Saints Day (All Hallows Day, November 1) - the day we celebrate those people who have, with God’s grace and mercy, achieved the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. The feast of All Saints calls to mind the universal call to holiness - that we’re all called to holiness - to live and love like God.
Our first vocation is to holiness. Our ‘second vocation’ (you could say), is a permanent way (state in life) of living out that holiness in this life through a sincere gift of ourselves - i.e. marriage, priesthood, or consecrated life.
During this Vocations Awareness Week, our diocese will focus primarily on priesthood and consecrated life, however, it is a worthy and fruitful undertaking to also bring awareness to our primary call to holiness, as well as all permanent states in life.
VOCATION LESSON PLANS
That said, our Office of Vocations is offering vocational lesson plans to all our parishes and schools. These plans contain lessons on marriage, priesthood, consecrated life, and discernment. These lesson plans are being made available to your school free of charge. These lessons were crafted by Vianney Vocations, a national ministry dedicated to the renewal of the Church by inspiring a new generation of priestly and religious vocations.
There are lesson plans for K-12th grade and could be shared with your students around the time of Vocations Awareness Week. Or these lessons could be taught anytime during the year that you deem appropriate. These plans will continue to be made available to you throughout the year online.
To access these plans, visit: vocationlessons.com
At the top right hand corner, you will see a SIGN IN button.
Enter the access code (There is a code for teachers and a code for students):
For Teachers: (call or email our office for the code if you don't have it)

HIGH SCHOOL VOCATION WORKBOOK
Vianney Vocations has also created a vocational workbook for high school students. This is a very well done piece of catechesis regarding Christian vocations. This workbook contains lessons on Holiness, Marriage, Priesthood, Consecrated Life, and Discernment.
This workbook is separate from the lesson plans explained above. This workbook is something we wanted to share with you as an option for your high school students - for theology class or campus ministry. This workbook could also be used to celebrate Vocations Awareness Week.
The Office of Vocations is sending a copy to each high school for you to have and review. If its something you would like to use for your students, you can purchase them at: https://vianneyvocations.com/product/learn-to-discern-high-school-vocations-workbook/.
